Phishing Scam Targets VISA Debit Card Holders

If you receive an email with the subject line that reads "Urgent Notification" it could be a phishing scam that has been circulating around the US. The text of the email reads as follows:

Dear Customer,

VISA Debit Cards Security Department suspended your account.

Reason: Fraud attempts
To reactivate your account please call the toll free number: 818-230-1183

VISA Debit Cards will never solicit you to provide or update personal or financial information. And, will never send an e-mail containing links to VISA Debit Cards Web sites.

DO NOT click on any link in the email or call any of the phone numbers. You will be asked for your card number, expiration date, and PIN in order to reactivate the card. VISA's security group has been notified of this scam and is addressing the problem. If you have any concerns, call the number on the back of your debit card NOT a phone number in the email.
